The 83,000 square-foot UTRGV Multi-Disciplinary Educational Medical Research Facility, located at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in McAllen, Texas, is a modern research center designed to advance medical research and education. Opened in March 2019, the facility is fully occupied and serves as a hub for interdisciplinary research in the medical field.
Designed as a Biosafety Level 1 (BSL-1) and Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) research facility, the building houses advanced laboratories and specialized spaces for scientific investigation. Key features of the facility include a Microscopy Center, a Rodent Vivarium, modular laboratories, and collaborative workspaces designed to foster innovation and teamwork among researchers.
TWG Architects is currently working on a master plan for the expansion of this facility to accommodate the growing demands of research and education in the healthcare field, ensuring that the UTRGV Medical Research Center continues to be at the forefront of scientific discovery and medical advancements.
